    Minnesota Backpacker

Hello! EarlyBird here! I just started backpacking last spring and just got my first backpacking hammock for Christmas! I'm excited to meet and connect with fellow tree-dwellers in my area! My plan is to thru-hike the Superior Hiking Trail this summer

    Thanks!
Hope you had a merry Christmas!

Hello and welcome from Marietta GA. There are several hangers on the forums from your area, including Shug of course. If you don't know who that is yet, look for him on YouTube- Shug Emery. Happy hanging!

Thank you much, sir! I am aware of Shug! He reminds me of a pal of mine.

If you're into watching backpackers, I highly recommend Sintax77. He's who infected me with the bug!!

Welcome fellow Minnesotan and congrats on your new hammock! You must be itching to try it out. Hopefully the weather calms down and it stops raining.

Welcome to hammock forums. You will need a good tarp in your area. Check out SimplyLightDesigns Winter Haven. It's an outstanding tarp that is light and you can get it fast. Jarrod does excellent work as well.

I have a Simply light design Winter Haven (http://www.simplylightdesigns.com/ca...roducts_id/213) and I love it, depends on if he was the material on hand he usually ships within 24 hours. Other tarps that are popular around here is the warbonnet superfly, underground quilts' winter dream and if you want and ultralight tarp the Hammock Gear Cuben fiber palace tarp. They all have doors and you can't go wrong with either tarp
    There's magic in the woods,
if you know where to look for it.

After having a hard time swallowing the price of the cuben fiber, the simply light winter haven is looking like a much better $$$ option. Haha thank you.

I like the fact that it goes to the ground as I sometimes hike with my dog and was worried about her not having adequate shelter from the elements.
