Hi HF,
I have been leaching information off of this website for almost a year now as I have planned to switch from the ground to the sling. After creating a spreadsheet and tinkering with weight, cost, and value I finally have my gear, thanks to fantastic Christmas gifts. An 11ft dutch netless hammock, a 12ft SLD Trail Haven, Hammock Anchors bought on BIAS, and Dutchware Kevlar Tree straps connected to MYOG Amsteel leaders. As a lightweight backpacker I spend too much time in the cold season over analyzing my gear. And now that I have my gear I thought I should become an active member on the Forum.
I am currently in the Northwest, specifically central Willamette Valley. I have aspirations of doing a long hike like the Idaho Centennial, Oregon Coast, or the Colorado Trail. To train for this I will spend nights hanging locally with friends and family. In the off season I will continue to pour over information found here and on Backpackinglight's forums.
I hope to find like minded hangers in the area that can encourage each other to get out and hang more!
