I want to get some feedback on the strength of this idea:
What i'm trying to do is make a clew suspension mod that fulfils the following:
- Allows removable clews (for adjustment, replacement, or cleaning)
- No sewing required.
- Inexpensive.
- Minimal impact on quilt fabric structural integrity.
The idea here is to use the KAM snaps as both snaps (to allow easy nettle attachment) and as pseudo-rivets (to avoid sewing).
Theoretical cost for the project, assuming you had no tools, would be $15-20 for the snapper tool and some snaps, $5-10 for the grosgrain ribbon, and $6 for shock cord.
@Jellyfish: based on your experience, do you think popping the snaps directly onto the quilt would have enough strength?
