It looks like the the attachment points actually create a faux baffle. I'm going to do this for my full-time indoor rig.

On a positive note, it makes for a pretty easy diy uq project! Interested to see this progression of the concept. Interesting article too by the way!

Interesting concept! Glad people are thinking outside the box! Concerning the tension down the middle length of the quilt, JRB has long had the middle suspension option on the mt Washington quilt, which helps pull up the middle of the quilt around the legs to address some of these concerns, but not all obviously. Keep innovating!

I'm wondering if this stuff might be the answer.... it has a good deal of stretch.

Hemmed triangle [or possibly a trapezoid] sewn all the way across would give an equal "pull". D-rings stitched down on the points
    Hmmmm....

I once already thought about modding my 4/5-length DIY Underquilt with spandex instead of shock cord suspension. Never tried it, though, as the calculated weight was quite high compared to shock cord.

Yet, your idea with the mesh could actually work and be light. You think it is robust enough?

This stuff is really quite sturdy... you can't tear it, the knit is too strong.
Can't see it giving out under just a UQs weight.

Seems like a simple rectangle of the stretchy stuff sewn on or attached in some way, then gathered ends like a hammock and attached would do the trick? The Ed Speer Snug fit I believe did just that if I recall:

This is an amazing concept and hopefully one that a few of the do it yourselfers will tackle. I'm amazed the amount to time and energy you've put into this. This is a great write up and diagrams and then to share it with the group. Well it's just incredible. It certainly gets the creative juices flowing in some. The gaps that a few mention are no different that the larger gap created by no center suspension and once occupied would definitely seal as good or better with a small draft collar. Let's see if any of the big guns pick this up and try it. Congrats on the idea and thanks for sharing.

I think this is worth trying when I make my BB&B UQ. I am currently using an OV UQ/Bag and suspend it the way Sargvining does in his youtube video. I don't think there will be much if any weight savings but worth trying for sure. Thanks for the idea and write up.
