Proper use of whoopie sling and ridgeline

Hello. Newbie here. I've just made my whoopee slings of amsteel and am a little confused about which end of the sling to attach to the toggle on the tree side the big loop or the 3 inch buried loop. Also wanted to know would it be safe to make a ridge line out of zing it, but make it like a very long whoopee sling? To you seasoned guys I apologize for the rookie questions, but I would be appreciative of any help you can give.
    thanks
    JH

Usually the adjustable loop goes on the toggle.

Yes zing-it is fine for the ridgeline and making it like a whoopee sling is called an adjustable ridgeline. To reduce the amount of zing-it you use, you make the adjustable loop smaller since you don't need that much adjusting and the distance from the fixed loop to the adjustable bury is much longer than on a suspension whoopie sling.

You could also use an UCR out of zing-it for the ridgeline and use even less cordage. A ridgeline of about 110" could be accomplished with about 130" of zing-it, as opposed to almost double that for a whoopie sling.

You can also invert the WhoopieSling and add some Dutch Bling.

To do this, you would splice a Dutch Whoopie Hook to the big loop end. Then you would use the little loop over your toggle knot and hook the suspension(Whoopie Hook) to a CL(continuous loop) that is attached to the hammock.

But this is getting way ahead of ourselves and only an option. Not necessary.

Welcome to the hang, from Florida. We like to complicate things just for fun.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Go look at Dutch bling. It may have nothing to do with solving your problem but it's like gadget crack. There's a bunch of elegant little doodads that are fun to play with. :-D

I have yet to really understand how to use a ridgeline. My Dangerbird has one, always seems pretty **** taught. My SLD came with one, adjustable, I never got it to really do much.

I'm basically a noob but I have been sleeping in a hammock exclusively in my house since I built the frame from on here back in October. I never quite feel like I have it dialed in.... I am limited in that I don't really have more than I'd say 13 feet in length on my stand. Also, I am 6'7" and pushing 4 biscuts which makes everything extra challenging.

I feel like someday I will get it sorted... until then, generally I am comfortable.... but would love to really understand ridgelines. I've watched Shug's video on it a few times and still don't get what benefit it offers. (inside. Outside, it keeps my netting or cover off me, that much I figured out)
