Cool DIY OutdoorINK 1.6 oz HyperD Hammock ("Tiger Stripes")

I made an 11-foot single-layer gathered-end hammock out of 1.6 oz HyperD fabric in an OutdoorINK pattern I designed, "Tiger Stripe" (Bengal). The hammock has side tie-outs and sewn end channels, and it weighs just over 12 ounces (347 grams) with CLs/SRL. The printed pattern is available at Ripstop by the Roll in several color variants and a range of outdoor gear fabric types for various DIY applications. The pattern is a full-width graphic based on an actual animal hide, with no repeats or reflections per linear yard.

HyperD 1.6 is a strong and comfortable fabric for a hammock body, and it takes the OutdoorINK digital printing process very well.

Thanks to Kyle and Justin at RBTR for bringing my design to market, and thanks to you for reading this project report.

I saw that design on RSTBR's site and didn't like it. Now that I see it on a finished hammock I have to say it looks really sharp.

Is the 1.6 Hyper white on the non printed side like the polybox? It looks to be in your photos.

I've been working on a design as well just can't get it together. I'm wanting something with skulls. I'm not a graphic artist, but have been around photoshop since it's infancy. Dabbler of all and master of none. I think my problem is being orgional. I can find a lot of stuff I'd like to see on a hammock.

    Well done.

Thanks a lot. All of the OutdoorINK printable fabrics are uncoated and start out white; the sublimated design shows through all of the fabrics to varying degrees, and on the 1.6 oz HyperD it is clearly visible but somewhat less saturated.

Here is what the pattern looks like on the "wrong" side of the HyperD (i.e., inner surface of the hammock body) as it came out of the OutdoorINK printer in North Carolina...

That's pretty cool. Love to see behind the scenes stuff.

All I can think is ," me Tarzan, you hammock". That is such a neat design. I expect to see a chimp hanging in it or something.
    Bravo. Well done.

    Nicely done!

The side tie outs are just folded over and then the ends hidden inside the hem?

Very interesting fabric! I love the strength and feel of the 1.6 HyperD but man it can be a pain in the *** to work with sometimes, since it likes to stretch on odd angles.
