I was curious if it would be worth buying their 0 degree bag for $180 and maybe get a discount if you sign up for their email list, and mod it into a top quilt. It would give you a down TQ for the price of a cottage vendor synthetic. Any thoughts? I would rather support our cottage vendors of course, and I have for our hammocks, tarps, and my UQ. Trying to figure out my top quilt.

That is not a bad idea. I may look at modding mine into a top quilt at some point.

I am curious too on this as they have reached out to me to try the UQ.
Kinda on the fence about it.
    Is it sewn through?

The 30 degree UQ is sewn-through, the 20 degree UQ is baffled.

See if they'll send you a 20 degree. I'd like to hear the Shug report on it.

I bought the roost awhile back, it is a sewn through synthetic 40* bag/UQ I think my DIY BBB down throw will be a lighter and more pack-able alternative. The quality wasn't bad. The idea was cool. I think it is a little big for a UQ, saggy and hard to keep it "up agin the butt". I tossed in a mummy bag into it on a cold night and with the added insulation it got me down into the low 30s. I was looking at their down offerings since they are not pricey and look as though they aren't as wide.

I bought the Aerie 30* to use as a TQ and haven't been disappointed. I can see how the sewn-through construction might be an issue if I used it as an UQ and had it cinched tightly to my booty, but as a TQ it's very functional. I'm a big dude (6'4" 280lb), so covering up all this deliciousness was a concern of mine with a traditional TQ. Thus far, I'm pleased with my purchase as a TQ.

I just bought the 20 degree. Still waiting to receive it but hope to use it this weekend or next on the AT in PA. Will also have an EE Revelation 20 degree TQ so I should be nice and toasty.
