    10D Waterproof/Breathable

We've had this for several months now, but I just realized we never announced it to the HF community. My bad on that. Here goes...

Most people know the names Gore-Tex and eVent because well, they're big brand names. We could've bought that from a distributor in bulk and sold it like others do I guess, but I really wanted to come up with a creation all our own.

After 8 months or so, we unveiled a 1.4 oz 10D waterproof/breathable line of ripstop nylon, built from the ground up by us. Check it out here:

Just for kicks, here's a pic of me hiking in Ecuador with a rain jacket made from some of the early sample yardage we made...

I'll skip right to the point here. This WPB (waterproof/breathable for short) is lighter (by a wide margin) AND has equal to or better performance than the big brand fabs. Because we produce it directly to our specifications, you will also find that it's very affordable considering the level of textile you're getting.

In short, compared to what you can currently find by the yard for DIY projects and such, I don't think there's anything even close on the combo of weight, performance, and price point.

There are at least a few ultralight vendors using this fabric already and I expect more will come on very soon. I also put my money where my mouth is and now own TWO rain jackets made from it.

Colors - Four colors at present: Dark Olive, Black, Moroccan Blue, Charcoal Gray. Just a heads up that we are adding a few new, brighter colors by request in the first few months of this year.

    Price - $10.25 /half yd

It won't do well as a new hammock, but having this available opens up so many EXCITING new project and product possibilities. Things like gaiters, jackets, hoods, rain paints, mittens... the list goes on. You've made the tarp, hammock, and quilt. Now it's time for something new .

Have fun and let us know if you have any questions! - KB

    This is great news!
I would recommend Hunter Orange as many of us hike during hunting season.

Do you have the pattern you used (or whoever used) to make the jackets?

No they are from vendors. One is Zpacks and the other Luke's Ultralight. What I would suggest is grabbing a jacket pattern here: https://ripstopbytheroll.com/collect...thing-patterns.

Make one by the plans first, then once you have the process down, start experimenting with tweaks and changes to that design. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that's what vendors do when developing their jacket designs.

I suppose you could also take an old one and reverse engineer it. I'll probably start with a pattern and tweak when I do mine.
