    Hello from North Carolina!

Hey Y'all! My names Samuel, I'm from the Piedmont region of North Carolina, and I'm relatively new to hammock camping. I'm a college freshman, and I love anything outdoors. Fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, you name it! I'm looking forward to becoming a member of this community, I've been a lurker for a while now and the friendships and comradery displayed on this forum is incredible.
I owned an ENO for a couple years, and then I discovered r/hammocks and r/hammockcamping on Reddit. I sold my ENO and bought my dream custom hammock from Dutch a few months ago, and have been slowly upgrading my setup since then. On a budget, but I've currently got all of the basics covered: YO bugnet, HH HexFly, Snugpak UQ, and a DIY Costco down blanket TQ.
Thanks for letting me join, I'm excited to be a part of this community!

Thanks! The only real question I have is: Do you use a continuous ridgeline, and if so, do you prefer it above or underneath the tarp?

    Hello from North Carolina!

Underneath is my choice--for now. If you can get to some of our group hangs--you will see all kinds of rigs and rigging-that work for each setup.

I use a continuous ridge line and prefer it above the tarp unless snow is forecast. I do not want the wind whipping my tarp all along the ridge line putting unneeded wear and tear on the tarp when it's no needed.

    Well said!

I wonder how it is we have come to this place in our society where art and nature are spoke in terms of what is optional, the pastime and concern of the elite?

Hello and welcome from Marietta GA. I use a CRL, typically strung above my tarp. Happy hanging!
