    Wink Suggestions on Suspension?

I have always used a pair of Eno Atlas straps. They work great when I don't need a tarp but most of the time I do need one. So I've been wondering what kinds of cord I should get to support 240 lb.+ and where I can get it. It seems like rope/cord is much more easily customized and that is something I really want. But I mostly just take a look at most cord set-ups and laugh/cry as I imagine it snapping the second I get in the hammock.

    Please Help!

I would stick with the ENO straps for now and use a dedicated ridge line for the tarp. Trying to get everything onto one suspension is doable but tricky. I started out just using thick braided poly rope with knots but have since moved on to using tree hugers (small pieces of webbing) with an adjustable amsteel ridgeline. I just added a loop alien for fun but haven't set it up with one yet.

It's overkill. You can get by with just some light weight rope for the most part. If you want some more outdoor specific gear look into lash-it/zing-it. It's smaller and lighter than the amsteel and you can still have fun splicing it. There are also a ton of different hardware do-dads to make rigging a tarp faster/easier. Dutchware sells a lot of options.

So if you want rope just for the tarp - I would suggest the small lash-it available from several of the vendors in the vendor section (I have bought from both Dutchware and Ripstopbytheroll and have been happy with their materials). I haven't bought any of their zing-it but I have bought amsteel and dynaglide from them. Far cheaper than any brick and mortar store and probably cheaper than amazon.

If you need something to support your weight in the hammock, 7/64ths amsteel ought to do the trick. Or you can get webbing to replace the ENO straps if they are to heavy/bulky for you.

I'm about the same weight as you and have been using whoopie slings hitched to tree straps as my hammock suspension. No problems at all. It's lighter, less bulky and more adjustable than the Atlas Straps, but there is a little fiddle factor when learning so they're not as "stupid simple". However, not complicated by any means. Hey, if I can do it...

I've been using the Dutch Whoopie Hook suspension for several years. Easy-peasy.

I have used whoop hooks for a long time, and the marlin spike hitch. Lately I've really been leaning towards the Becket hitch with 1/2 mule tape attached to some Dutch Kevlar tree straps. The becket hitch to stupid easy and I don't have to worry about my amsteel getting worn out...I got something like 250' of the mule tape for around $15 on Ebay.

15' polypro straps, Adutchable's and cinch bugs for me.
I have whoopie hooks on slings and UCRs but find I'm using the straps more. Very adjustable. Little over 7 oz

Why make things harder than they should be or spend money for what you dont need?
Keep it simple, go with a set of 15 ft straps and cinch buckles for the hammock, run the straps around the tree, thru the loop that's on the one end and thru a set of cinch buckles that are allready on your hammock with cls. DONE.
As for the tarp use Lash it or zing it, simple reliable and cheap!
