I've always heard the Snugpak definetly has a lower temp rating but is heavier. Also, Snugpak used to make DD's UQ for them but now DD makes their own. Both are good quilts tho, but for me the lower temp and price were what sealed the deal on the Snugpak gear. Good luck with whatever you choose

I recommend the Jarbidge UQ. I have been using them for about 5+ years

I can't believe no one has mentioned doing a PLUQ yet. I have a Jarbidge, a Snugpak, and a PLUQ. The PLUQ works really well down to about 40º, plus you get the satisfaction of DIY.

My Jarbidge is warm, but at a 3/4 length its just too fiddly... I'm not sure I would recommend a 3/4 length quilt to a newbie or an occasional car camper.

If you want super-cheap, you may want to go treasure-hunting at thrift stores. You might find a down comforter or sleeping bag you can re-purpose. Reflectix is dirt cheap. Two layers of Reflectix will take you down to around 45*F.

How cold does your rig need to be able to handle?

If you don't have a sewing machine, you might want to consider getting a used one from the thrift store and try it out. The more DIY skills you have, the cheaper you can gear up.

While I like my Jarbidge, I find the simple "stock" suspension fiddly. If I were buying new, I'd probably spring for the full suspension and draft collar of the loco libre synthetic quilt
