Impressive. Some of those steep areas made my stomach feel queasy. I'm not into heights much any more. Nice video and beautiful area. You are looking very fit from some of the videos I saw of yours last year. Did you and your son take up running? One would have to be fit to hike that route of over 3000 ft elevation gain. I'm guessing I'll never attempt this as I would need to stop and sleep somewhere over night on the way up Thanks again for sharing.

Yes, we are entering different races, mud runs, obstacle course runs, 5 K's, etc. Thanks for watching my video.

Ah. That explains it. So that 3000 foot gain wasn't so bad for you. Congrats on getting in that good of shape. One other question. When did you apply for the Mt Leconte stay or did you get it on a stand by list.

Actually, some friends of ours gave their reservations to us. Of course, I ended up going by myself. October 1st is when they start making reservations for the next year, very hard to get in. You can also get on a waiting list for people who cancel, but you have to be flexible on dates. There are many people who are grandfathered in to go once a year who have been going for many years, but I believe in 2018 they are throwing that out, so all who would like to reserve a lodge at Leconte will be equal.

Nice video and love that area. I try to get there every year. We should all be happy that it has not been effected by fire but, several of the trails from the rainbow falls area have been.

Glad the lodge was not effected, heard they found the 2 kids that started the fire at Chimney Tops, may be tried as adults.

They have the two kids in juvenile detention at this time but are most likely going to try to get them classified as an adult. However, they are throwing the book at them.
