Planning a 5-6 night trip to this area in Sept. Any strong recommendations for a 40-50 mile loop? I'll have a group of about 4 guys.

I'm planning a trip same time next year. Planning on Cirque of the Towers, then to Graves Lake and back to big Sandy trailhead. About 40 miles. We are planning a few days to explore some peaks also. Not just hike every day. 6-7 days.
When I get home tomorrow I can send you the Caltopo trip I mapped out.

The longest Loop I have been on up there is 18 miles, but I could send you a map with all the routes and some personal notes and tips if you want. You have to climb Mitchells Nipple while u are up there too. It's amazing what you can see from up there! There are also a bunch of great guidebooks by Finis Mitchell, the guy who made most of those trails.

A few friends and I did a 50 mile loop in the Winds during the first week of September this year. It was an extraordinary experience. I can't recommend a trip to the Winds during that timeframe strongly enough.
We used ground shelters, so I can't provide any hammocking-specific advice. I'm happy to answer any questions or provide any guidance that might be helpful. I was extremely pleased with how my kit performed on the trip, including to a low 24* and a night of 2 inches of wet snow. Also was able to land a 16-inch golden trout the first day. Beautiful, awe-inspiring place.

The best time by far is middle of July, it's gonna get pretty frosty in sept. But hey, no mosquitoes. I will compile all my info and get it to you as soon as I can get everything together. Feel free to print off anything I send!
