Older Edge tarp door kit question

I have an older Edge tarp (2011--still amazing, such a tight pitch), which is about a foot shorter than the newer model Edge. Just realized it will be a bit short to cover my newly ordered XLC.

My question is: if I buy the newer longer Edge tarp, will the old door kit I bought with the older Edge work on the new Edge tarp? Did the door kit change in any way?

Thought I'd ask here first instead of bothering warbonnetguy. I'll get my new hammock faster.

shorter? 10' ridgeline vs. 11'? or sides are shorter?

seems like ridgeline length would have no effect on doors...

Precisely what I need to find out: is the new Edge also wider? Does it make a difference.

I borrowed an Edge once, and it didn't cover my 11 ft. hammock very well (it was the 10 ft. Edge). If you have an 11 ft. WBBXLC, I'd say you have the wrong tarp.

no, I'm asking - does your Edge have a shorter ridgeline, or is the width shorter?

the current Edge has an 11" ridgeline and is 7'10" wide. which dimension of your tarp is shorter?

The old Edge was 126" x 94" - the current version is 132" x 94". I don't have the door kit, so I can't say anything about the fit. But it *should* work...

And yes, even the 11' Edge is a tight fit with a non-WB 11' hammock, but it can be done:

That's an 11' DH Roaming Gnome under the current WB Edge.

Great! Thanks, Hutzelbein! That's what I needed to know. Looks like the width is the same so I should be able to use the old door kit if I buy a new tarp.

@Secondmouse, sorry I wasn't very clear. I didn't know the dimensions of the old edge tarp, couldn't find them on the Warbonnet website, and was too lazy to get out the old tarp and measure it. I knew the new edge was longer, but didn't know if the old edge was less wide, as that is the key thing for the doors. i didn't want a big gap at the bottom. As for length, there is a shock cord that goes lengthwise, but it is easy to change out for a longer piece.

    Thanks all!

Look at hutzelbein's forum link. I think I'm going to call my hammock a "haengematte" from now on!

If you want to be a 100% sure, you've got to ask Warbonnet. I didn't measure my old and new Edge, either, but got the dimensions from the Way Back Machine. It's also worth noting, that Warbonnet doesn't add those little rings to its tarps anymore, that were used with the doors. There is a current thread on that topic. Apparently the doors work without the rings as well.

Hutzelbein - Do you know when the Edge tarp switch from 126 to 132? I currently own an Edge (w/door rings) and in my original notes, I typed 132 and 11.25oz. Ultimately, I guess I will have to pull it out and measure the Ridgline; but was hoping to avoid that, if I sell it, when my CF Palace Comes in. But it would help to know when that switch occurred. Would make it easier to set price and sell with the rings and all lines attached, ready to set up and use. Thanks

They changed the length to 11' around the time when they introduced the 11' XLC. The XLC came out in the beginning of 2013, and in May 2013 the ridgeline of the Edge had increased to the current 11':

So maybe it would be a good idea to ask if the old Edge doors will fit the current Edge.
