    ENO Mods

Got an ENO dblnest before I knew what else was out there. I do think it is very comfortable, but as a noob, am wondering what others have done to customize an ENO. The whoopie sling looks pretty cool, but does it affect how much the hammock opens? Planning a trip on the BMT in June, so plenty of time to tinker. Any suggestions?

If you run the whoopie through the channel, it does not effect how the hammock hangs.

The ENO Double is extremely comfortable... I recently sold both of mine... but just to try some others... I know Ill get another one in the future.

Some like the Guradian Bug net, I didnt. When I get another one, Im going to add a DIY bug net with zippers.

The ENO tarps are nicely constructed, but lack coverage for what you pay for them.

Ok, so let's get real basic: if I change to a whoopie sling, what attaches to the tree?

I modded my DoubleNest to use whoopies, doing exactly what Opie described and it works great. You will also need to get some webbing tree straps in order to attach the whoopie sling to the trees.

Thanks. Makes me think that I could just use the slap straps from ENO and attach the whoopies. Is that a good idea, and if so, how should I attach the whoopie to the slap strap?

If you already have the slap strap (and whoopies) and aren't particularly concerned about the weight, you can just use a toggle to attach the whoopie to one of the slap strap loops. You will have a much more finely adjustable suspension that way. You can get a pair of tree straps from Arrowhead Equipment for $14, which will really slim down your kit. I highly advise that you watch the GrizzlyAdams videos on suspension systems.

Go about 5 minutes into this one to learn about toggles and the Marlinspike hitch.

You make it sound like the ENO DN is a bad thing. Not true, and if someone were going to limit himself to just one hammock, he could certainly do a lot worse. Nothing to apologize for there. Nothing at all.

Here's the thread you need to look at.

I have the double ENO and like it alot... When I bought a WB blackbird I bought a 2nd set of straps like on the BB and attached it to the ENO... Works great.

Didn't mean to dis my ENO! I just don't know anything about what else is out there, and I don't want to miss an opportunity to make a good thing even better out of ignorance. Thanks for the info.
