    Exclamation re: camping at heights

Admittedly when it comes to thoughts of taking hammocking to new heights... I immediately got sucked into the world of the arborist, quickly realizing the pricey downside...

Im wondering what your thoughts would be on the use of a webbing ladder (tentsile sells one I'm thinking of using on their website) and a throw line... As opposed to the expensive climbing equipment.

I'm hoping to achieve a 8-10 foot hang if I raise the level of the (6.5') ladder off the ground

It sounds interesting but we had a thread a few months ago (that I can't seem to find) about a forum member plunging from the canopy and ending up seriously injured. Unless you're planning to go all out with the safety gear and proper training I'd say stick to the ground. The amount of work required to get your straps high up on the trees then use the same ladder to both raise your hammock and somehow climb into it will prove to be quite a challenge. If you decide to pursue this, please post pics....

You get what you pay for. Safety ain't cheap and cheap ain't safe.

    Since you asked.

Who fell? Was it TreeFool? TreeFool has lots of videos showing him hammock camping high in the tree canopy. I wish a speedy recovery for our fallen hammock friend.

    I appreciate the advice guys!

Like I said, I'm fairly new to hammocking... And I'm curious to take it to the next level, as is my nature (as a snowboarder who bunged his knee up real good)

Safety is obviously important, as is accessibility...

This is the compromise I've come up with; hanging the hammock lines (with continuous Dutch Ridgeline type system for the tarp) using a Petzl zigzag and climbing harness... Then stringing my tentsile ladder between the tree for easy access... In my opinion this is the best of both worlds

And quite possibly as good as I'm gonna get haha

The zig zag looks like it's simple enough to set up, using a single line system... If you have any other suggestions or recommendations I would be more than happy to hear!

    Thanks Shug!

And man! I have to tell you I had a total fanboy moment when I realized it was you. You were a huge inspiration to both my gf and I with your YouTube videos!

We've learned a lot from you! So thanks again! I still can't believe you replied to my post.
