Does anyone or has anyone sprayed Permethrin directly on their quilts to fight off visitors when not using their bug net?

Nope. I am not spraying anything on my quilts. If you are not using your bugnet, then why are you concerned about bugs? Once mosquito season is over, I've never seen any bug on my hammock or quilts.

Only the cats I use my bug net year round so no need to apply any chemicals plus I paid so much that I wouldn't want to spray any thing on them
Quite a few people spray that poison all over everything, clothes, quilts and underwear.Personally I wouldn't put it on anything that's in direct contact with my skin. I know, I know, the studies (which by the way were paid for by the company that produces the poison) says that it's perfectly safe for humans. Of course there's some studies that say Mercury is good for the brain, Roundup it's safe and fluoridated water doesn't cause brain damage or bone cancer. But seriously if you're only out camping a couple times a month chances are it's not going to hurt anything but personally I wouldn't put that poison near my skin on a daily basis.
But I drink that stuff everyday and it hasn't hurt me, yep and I know people that have smoked their whole life and are still strong like bull but I've also had a grandma and an uncle die from it.
P.s. you know what works really good as a bug repellent, Woodsmoke. A lot of organic Orchards used wood smoke to keep the bugs off their fruit and personally I think it smells better although it's carcinogenic too.

By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...
Actually the military has paid for a lot of those studies as well to protect clothing and the person in side them from ticks and other nasties.
I have.

I've sprayed mine with Febreeze. Freshens em right up!
I do not pre-treat any of my camping gear but when I put myself in a bug infested situation I use 100% deet on my cloths for flies and ticks and a 30% deet spray for mosquitos along with a fishermans head bug net.
I am far more worried about what these biting insects (insect borne diseases) can give me over some possible long term exposure issue, or in my case a very short time, to an insectcide.
How does that saying go? you places your bets and you takes your chances.
Which study are you talking about? And which company are you talking about? Permethrin has been around a long time. Given the bad stuff you can get from mosquito- and tick-borne diseases, I won't hesitate to use permethrin on my bugnet and clothing. However, I'm not spraying my quilts, tarp, backpack, hammock, guylines, ridgeline, or anything else in my kit - that's a little too crazy for me.

Also, permethrin is mostly just chrysanthemum with some additives to allow it to be sprayed easier.
