    USMC Arctic blanket hammock

    Hi folks!

    http://edition.cnn.com/2016/11/29/eu...er/index.html#

The second video in this CNN article ("How soldiers survive in the Arctic") features a strange hammock which appears to essentially be a folded over blanket of some sort, suspended with heavy ropes, with a side slit for the face as to allow easy breathing as I assume the V-fold in the blanket will press into one's face otherwise.

Does anyone know what this system is called and if it is comfortable to sleep in?

Also, can someone ID the mossy camo pattern on the blanket?

That second video is of the Norwegian army performing a survival exercise, not USMC.

When it comes to winter ops the Norwegians have worked out the bugs...

Every winter they do winter an ops and have openings for US military: and the slots get filled by people from all over the US, both active and guard/reserve components (The program is so popular that its a lottery to go). ... They cover; Skiing's, shooting, skiing, snowshoeing, skiing, winter survival, skiing, learning how to be pulled behind tracked vehicles while on skis, skiing, building shelters, skiing, how to do a full body cleaning, skiing, eating, skiing,,,,,, By the way did I mention they like to ski?

FWIW, except for the mountains, one would think that your in N MN..

Here is a funning AAR http://speisa.com/modules/articles/i...gian-kids.html written up by a marine after having a firefight with a group Norwegians.
