    Joining from the Pacific NW

I've been a tent camper my entire life and for the most part I love it....A buddy of mine started hanging every time we went out in the woods...Rain or Shine or Snow or whatever and he was always talking about how comfortable he was and how great he slept. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical, but as time went on we talked a lot about all the different ways to setup hammocks and tarp camp and I began to see the enjoyment in the "fiddle factor" each we would set up. So eventually I purchased a WB SuperFly Tarp for general use camping and then ultimately decided to take the plunge and get a WB Blackbird XLC. There are many reasons I decided to try hammock camping, but I will say that most people rave about how well they sleep in a hammock and off the ground. So...here we go!

I'll post pics as trips come up.

    Cheers!

Hello and welcome from Marietta GA.

Everything else being equal between tent and hammock camping, hammocks far and away win on the comfort factor alone!

    Happy hanging!

Hammock camping is not all its cracked up to be. I think you should stick to tents. You can send me your Warbonnet gear for disposal at your earliest convenience!

PS - I am the buddy that he is referring to doing my best to spread the gospel of hanging. VeteranBlanco, welcome to the forum. Tons of info here and its a great community. Looking forward to some snow camping and you getting that XLC dialed in this weekend!
“The word hammockable (Meaning: two trees that are the perfect distance apart between which a hammock can be hung) is not in the dictionary, but it should be.”

Shame on you. There are only so many trees to go around and the last thing we need is another well rested hiker on the trail.

Welcome to the fraternity. I've seen a few not like it but finding a place to hang vs finding a place to set up a t**t is reason enough to like hammocks, let alone the comfort factor.

Trailslug, I like how you treat "t%$t" as a bad word. HAHAHA!

Welcome! My sisterinlaw is in Snoqualmie. Beautiful area. Done some drift boat fishing for steelhead and searun cutts, but never "hung" out there! Next time we go maybe we will try and do some camping!
