    Cuben dry-bag?

Has anybody attempted CF dry bags? Or CF bicycle paniers?

I'm a cyclist but I don't use traditional paniers... Rather what I use instead is two mesh backpacks modified to hang from my racks, with Silnylon dry bag inserts to keep the contents dry. The mesh backpacks is way lighter than a waterproof panier would be and holds more bulk. It provides toughness against most abrasion and is stretchy enough to allow me to overfill it occasionally, while the Silnylon bags provide lightweight waterproofing. But the the drybags I have are wearing out, and they didn't always keep things dry in spite of being closed. EMS stopped carrying the Sea to Summit bags I was using anyway, and I don't like the new ones that they have, even if they had the size I need, which they don't. So I thought I'd use this as an opportunity to DIY some CF.

I figured I'd pick the DiY brains before ordering materials

I have the cf dry bags I use, two of them used to keep water in. After my tarp is in its skins I put it in a bag and in my pack to keep everything else dry. Same with my water kit. Both work wonderfully well. I've had other, cheaper bags that didn't work, no matter how many times I rolled the top.

I use a z-packs cuben Pack liner, CF bearbag kit, and a HG cuben sleeve for my hammock. I ditch the pack cover and don't worry about it. I also use a CF kilt for rainpants and it doubles as a ground mat.

Yama Mountain provides a kit to make CF stuff sacks. If you haven't worked with CF before, this may provide good practice before attempting the dry sacks.
There's a nice video there too.

I have made some diy CF bags and they work well. An important fact to remember is that they do not stretch! So they need to be made larger than you might think.
