    Draft Collars

I'm finishing up a down underquilt and came across the idea of trying to fashion my own draft collars.

Do they create a noticeable difference in warmth/are they effective?

If so, can anyone give me advice on how to make my own?

I put them in my CDT uq's. Could get slight gaps at the foot end that were filled in with nice puffy down collars. We found that even if you get everything adjusted perfectly while in one position, when you shift even slightly to another, gaps can form. The collars provide a bit of insurance. Go for it, what have you got to lose?

Draft collars work, I have one at the head end of my TQ also.

I installed one on my TQ build. They're worth the extra time. If you're gonna go go all out.

I installed a draft collar (hemmed piece of fabric) around most of my top quilt I like it. I think it would be a good idea on an uq (filled with warm puffy stuff).

I put them at both ends of my underquilts, they help to fill in any gaps that might happen during the night. I take two pieces of fabric that is 4" x 45" ( width of underquilt), sew the two short sides and one long side then turn right side out. Sew the last long side, leaving room to put down in. Fill with down. Put the last long edge into the rolled hem of the quilt.
