The best part of winter hang is, turning your hammock into a blanket cave and sleeping like a baby.

Is it okay if a HF newbie (ME! :-D ) my guy and a couple friends join? I dont think I really know anyone, but hoping to change that some. :-) What should I know to make sure I am prepared and can pass along anything of pertinence? I looked at the sign up and we could bring firewood to help out. I have been getting into hammocking more, but my guy and friends are pretty new at it. I am going to ask they bring closed cell pads plus their inflatable to keep warm underneath... Not sure of my friends status as far as tarps. I gotta ask them - they got excited when I mentioned I saw this post a couple days ago. Does everyone pretty much just do their own food with the exception of the Saturday competition? Does everyone bring food for Saturday or just those competing?

Why not? saturday is a shared meal deal and your welcome to bring anything you want to help out but the rest of the time your on your own for food.
As far as any other rules go i will let an organizer chime in, that is if he gets a chance before silrsurfr does!, You can also go down and check out the first couple of posts in this thread where it's all explained.

We pretty much bring our own food, and a shared item for Saturday. Each site has its own firepit so bringing your own wood would work. Maybe make your list for your group of warm camping gear to bring. A quality extra wool blanket is quite useful (per person) and has many uses. There a no picknick tables at these sites. BYOT
Of course there will be the main firepit, canopy and tables set up.

We are here to help with any questions or suggestions you may have.

Saturday night is a community meal. As stated earlier, no need to enter into contest. Though it doesn't hurt to try and win the trophy.
