Not to derail this Trip thread..
Pipe is pipe and can be purchased or made easily enough.

I tried but this time I failed

Come February, I'm sort of thinking about coming in from the east, down the powerline clearing to Hare Tr then northwest to the camp. Just for something different. Dave mentioned that last year and I believe Don did a day hike that way. I always enjoy breaking a new trail if there's a lot of fresh snow. But with a new pulk, maybe I should keep it simple.

I think Dirk can give you plenty of Intel on how it worked out last year. Go for it...we need the parking space 😄.

Meanwhile, back to the trip planning thread.

The power line route is very very hilly. I would stop at Hare Road and hike your stuff to the intersection where Hare and Reynolds meet and then go back and park at the power line entrance. That's what I did on the way out. Couldn't face dragging my gear back up and down those steep hills. I think I ended up following Reynolds Road on they way in. Not the way to go in my opinion. Following Hare in might be better but there was really no clear trail either way due to all the snow.

    I'm in.

    1) Am hoping to carpool with AndrewB from Grand Rapids area and perhaps JasonACraft from South Bend.

    2) I'm not much of a camp cook. But if somebody would just tell me what food and/or supplies I could bring, I'd be glad to do so. I brought several dozen eggs to the fall hang that didn't get used. Would love to contribute. Cooks: what food can/should I bring for you?

Same here. I think I'll go with something easy like bacon and brownies. I have a brownie pan from Pampered Chief which makes KILLER ~2"x2" brownies. I love them! No, I'm not putting bacon in the brownies...that sounds like something for the Gluttony Hang

If somebody gets ambitious it would be great to mark that trail somehow just in case. I would love to get out there for another hike but not sure when I will have time what with working three jobs.

Bummer....it was great meeting you at the Gluttony hang. Looking forward to hanging out with you again. And, if plans change, you know where we will be.

Rumor has it a few of the crew are up at GT this weekend. Hopefully they'll pry themselves away from the coffee pot and roaring fire and do some Intel on alternate trails in. Thank you to everyone whose posted their plans. Let's hope we get some snow!

Sounds fun, wish I could go, but I do not have the gear or insulation to withstand a Michigan winter's night. Stay warm out there, friends.
The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.
