    Smile First taste of winter

Tonights forcast is low of 37° and windy, but its sleeting, snowing and raining right now so I'm guessing its already a little colder. I couldn't pass up an opertunity to hang in such beautiful weather! So I hung my 10x10 Snugpak tarp as low as I could, put on my UQP and just got in my hammock. I love the sound of rain and sleet hitting the tarp. Tomorrow night is supposed to be colder at 27°, and I can't wait! Finally some nice low temps to start testing out my winter gear. I tried pitching my HH typhoon tarp with my WBBBXLC, but it doesn't fit at all. So for now I'll use the Snugpak untill after Xmas when I can save up for a winter tarp. Bring on the cold! I'm loving it.

Same here. We are supposed to hit 31 tonight and 26 tomorrow night. I hung last night in a storm and that was a bit scary at times as I thought the wind was going to flip my Tato stand. Going back out tonight to test as this is the lowest we've had since last February. I'm debating weather to try my 20° quilt or my 0°. Still debating.

I would go 0° just to have a decent buffer just in case. So far this fall I've found that the temps have been lower than forecasted almost ever night BC of my location on the water. I went straight from my synthetic Snugpak TQ/UQ to my winter nest and 0° burrow. I love the cold weather, but hate being cold lol.

Been thinking about getting out here too. Haven't had my 0degree HG UQ out for a proper test. I'll be using that and 2 Costco TQs layered. Looks like a low of 25 here tomorrow night.

I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

+1 on tonight. I'm hanging in my back yard for the coldest night so far this season. Gonna put my MAMW 30* +2 TQ and UGQ 20* UQ to the test!

We are doing the Blackwater section of the FT. Lows expected to be 29 F. Going with a 20 upper/40 lower w/overstuff quilt combination and heavier sleeping clothes.

    How did everyone do?

I had plans to test my gear, too, last night, but the kids had other plans for me. Maybe on the next cold snap!

Just got back from the finger lakes trail. Friday sunny in the 70's. This morning woke up to a skiff of snow on the ground and shot guns going off in the woods. 2nd day of hunting season. Made sure we brought some bright things to wear no our hike.
