1.7 ROBIC XL Hybrid - Now Available

We started the ROBIC line by creating the lightest, widest hammock specific material on the market in 1.0 ROBIC XL. Ultralight isn't for everyone, so pretty much since that day, we've been asked if a 1.6 was in the works.

Well, I'm very proud to announce that today, that work is FINISHED. Introducing 1.7 ROBIC XL Hybrid:

    1.7 ROBIC XL Hybrid preview.jpg

    -> https://ripstopbytheroll.com/product...-ripstop-nylon

Now for those of you who don't want to read through all the details, I'll skip to the important stuff:

Colors: Dark Olive, Charcoal Gray, Black, Burnt Orange, Vader Blue, Coyote Brown, and of course... Olive Yellow
    Price: $7.95 /yd
CURRENT STOCK: 20 YDS PER COLOR

I put the last one in all caps for good reason. Until sometime next week when the full production lot arrives, we only have 20 yds per color available. This initial yardage will sell out quickly. We've pulled off a bit for promotion and testing, but I wanted to give you guys first crack at the rest.

We're also running a deal for $1 off per yd for the time being. If this is what you've been waiting on, now is the time to get your hands on this short yardage and avoid paying full price.

Just as a heads up, the last time we did this with the launch of 1.6 HyperD XL, we put up 100 yds per color and sold out within about 24 hours.

We don't have proper pics up (don't hate me), but here is the site link:

    ***********************************************

    Now to the details...

As many of you know, the majority of our high-end fabric development starts from scratch; meaning that we begin with defined goals, create specs, then weave the fabric from the yarn up. When our goal is to bring you something truly unique and game changing, there's no other way to do it.

Fabrics are made with yarn, and most most fabrics use the same size yarn throughout. But 1.7 ROBIC XL Hybrid isn't most fabrics.

One of the key things we've done with 1.7 ROBIC XL Hybrid is a very special hybrid-denier weave, where we're actually using two different size yarns to create the base fabric (40D) and the ripstop grid (120D). The bottom-line result is a much more durable, rugged end fabric for a comparably small increase in weight. In this case 1.7 osy vs the more common 1.6 osy.

I know people will have questions on stretch, feel, and other things, so I figured I'd cover those up front:

    1. Stretch - Probably the lowest stretch of any nylon fabric on the market in this weight range. This is a combination of our Hybrid-denier weave and the ROBIC yarn.

    2. Durability - This one is built to last. More rugged and durable than our 1.6 HyperD AND even heavier fabrics like our 1.9 oz ripstop nylon.

    3. Feel - Softish with a nice hand, but certainly not the softest fabric we offer. Like the 1.0 ROBIC XL, this is by design. If you want the absolute softest, go for 1.6 HyperD.

    4. Breathability - Highly breathable. Very similar to 1.6 HyperD here.

    5. Weight Rating - We are completing our standard static/stretch load testing soon (see here for explanation of what we're doing in the realm of testing), but my early estimate is > 400 lbs. We will be testing at a 1500 lb load with the goal of setting a 500 lb weight limit.

    6. Sewability - Not sure if this is a word, but you get what I mean. 1.7 ROBIC XL Hybrid has a bit more "structure" and less drape than 1.6 HyperD, making it easier to hold a crease and IMO easier to sew than anything outside of maybe our 2.2 oz HEX70 XL.

Bottom line - 1.7 ROBIC XL Hybrid was designed from the ground up to be wider, stronger, and more durable than other materials in this weight class. If that sounds like you, then it's a great choice.

If anyone has questions, please feel free. I'm happy to help. Thanks!

This is great news for those of us who value trailworthiness along with light weight! I ordered 4 yards of the Dark Olive.

    Nailed it !!

When will it be available for Outdoor Ink?
j/k, figured I'd get in front of the curve on this...

Tell you what I like about this, the whole Goldilocks thing.
1.6 HyperD XL - love it, must a bit too much stretch maybe, still my go to
2.2 Hex 70XL - man that is some tough stuff, figured it was gonna be perfect but was actually a bit stiff for full time hanging, like a little more give in the shoulder

1.7 Robic XL - might be "The One", I'm gonna call the hammock "Neo"
    Have sherpas, will travel...
Triangles, it's all about the triangles.

Dark olive is already sold out

This won't replace the 1.6oz HyperD wide, or will it?

I've heard the disappointment of no Dark Olive can be offset with a purchase of Olive Yellow. It fixes everything. This will not replace 1.6 HyperD XL. We will be tweaking and adding to that line after the first of the year.

I don't want to hand out false hope here. It will probably be gone if you wait that long :/. Maybe order on your phone?

I told myself I really didn't need to make another hammock, as I already have too many projects on my plate for a few months....but I kept seeing that 4 yards of Black just sitting there..lonely, maybe afraid...I swear they were begging me for a good home.

I couldn't resist. Looking forward to getting my hands on a new fabric.

    Thanks Kyle and crew
