Cool New single line suspension system. No hardware!

Today I had an interesting idea for a single line suspension system using nothing but a slippery figure 8 knot and it totally worked! Question is, is there any other system out there using a single line of Amstel with no hardware, that is fully adjustable? Or did I come up with something awesome. Thanks in advance for the knowledge friends.

We would need more details on the suspension to know for sure.

It's basically like using the Becket hitch but work on amsteel-blue. If you use the Kevlar tree straps from Dutch it would come out to 2 oz for the whole set.

I've tried using a slippery figure 8 as a stopper knot with the CL larksheaded around the leader. Sort of like phantom grapplers Carolina red suspension. While it worked it was a pain in the *** to untie. Like marlin spike yanking as hard as i could. Granted I'm 340 lbs (lost ten this month worth of meat.

Yeah! Like that. I haven't tried it over night yet but why aren't more people using this method? It seems to have the best of everything going for it.

Because it's a pain in the nether regions?

I believe the OP is talking about the Carolina Red suspension using amsteel instead of kevlar straps. You larks head a CL onto the amsteel leader then tie a slip knot underneath the larks head. The larks head sits on top of the slip knot and your weight tightens the larks head preventing it from going past the slip knot. I've tried this on kevlar while shadow camping and the slip knot is scary tight after it's loaded. You have to baby the slip knot while trying to unload it. If you just tug on the tail and the bunny ear is twisted you'll just make it worst. I spent ten minutes just trying to get the slip knot out. What do you do in the field when you can't get that slip knot out? To me, it's not worth it.

I have found that the becket hitch tied to 7/64ths amsteel CLs (on the hammock) are a great and very streamlined suspension. I use 2.2 kevlar straps from Dutch around the tree, through the CL, and then to tie the becket hitch.

I did use dynaglide CLs for a bit, but the hitch got really locked up on the smaller line. Likely, you could use 1/8th CLs on the hammock, add very little weight, and make it very easy to untie the hitch after sleeping all night on it. Once I started using the long kevlar straps through CL, I had the same though: why aren't more people using this? Only two pieces in the system, no hardware, easy adjust, holds solid....

that said, I am still fond of my whoopie hooks.
