Looks like it will be downright frigid. Can't wait.

Yup, south on A and the parking lot for the trailhead is on your right. It's small and you can zip right by it if you're not paying attention. You'll also see a "Bell Mountain" sign on the left side.

Well it will be cold, I'm not worried about weight so I'm bringing extra layers, etc.

For water, I'll "camel up" before hitting the trail and I'll want 2 liters minimum after I reach the top.

I'll likely be cooking heavy food on a canister stove Friday night but will revert back to lightweight cooking/eating for Saturday/Sunday.

I always wonder why I think this is fun but it always is now that I have my gear dialed in. I've spend some really miserable nights in the woods but those were good too; learned a lot and better off for the experience since I didn't die.

See some of you tomorrow night. Not sure what time I can get out of work so I could be there by 5 or it could be 7.

****. I sure wish I could go. Would be nice to break out the coleman and do it up big and nice on Friday and head out in the morning for some "lighter" weight trekking, and I really want to get some hiking in the snow in this year. But the gear i presently have won't likely facilitate it, and I'm bumming that I'm going to miss this trip.

Gideon, as for having fun in "miserable" weather, yeah. I am in the same boat. It's weird to think that embracing the suck could be so much fun, but it sure is. As long as the gear is available...
Have fun and be safe folks! I'll be sitting in my heated house wishing I was on the mountain, jealous as all getout.

It is a nice opportunity to combine a night of car camping with a day and a night of more typical stuff; we'll miss you Goat!

Thanks Gideon. I will leave the Joplin area around noon and it is a 4 1/2 hour drive. Is there an obvious camp spot near the trail head for our Friday night? Or do we just pick a good spot with plenty of trees for the hangin?

I'm going to come in Saturday afternoon when I get off work. I will be hiking in from the north bell trailhead. I would assume that we will be setting up camp near the highlighted area?

It will be about an hour and a half drive from my work. I get off at noon, and I would assume an hour and a half-ish hike in, I'm not sprinting on this one by any means. Will everyone already be at camp? Also, should I bring any extra stuff for anyone that lacks insulation or what have you.
