    IN>Ron's Woods>20-22 Jan>Hoosier Winter Hang and Campout

This year for the winter hang and camp-out I will welcome everyone to my place just east of Scottsburg Indiana. There are about 15 acres of woods with a dirt road out to the campsite. There is a pond for water or you can bring what you need. There is no electricity available at the woods.

Saturday night we will do a pitch in dinner.

If one or two could bring a chainsaw and a splitting maul we could easily cut up the firewood we will need.

Hardy Lake and Clifty Falls State Park are close by if anyone wants to take a day trip to hike.
This camp-out will also be listed on the Indy Backpackers meetup site and the Ohio Valley Backpacking Meetup sites. I am hoping for a good turnout for this safe winter camping trip.

Hey Ron, We decided at the Halloween Hang on Jan 20, 2017 as the date and last year's location. Trail medic agreed we would move the location to your site. This is now the official unofficial thread for the 2017 Winter Hang. We bequeath all further organizational duties to your capable hands.

I will bring a chainsaw and splitting maul. Never miss a chance to fire up the saw. Splitting maul does'nt fit my hands, but I'm certain someone can operate it.

Can we drive to the site or is it hike in?

Yes one can drive back to the campsite 90% of the time with a car even. If it happens to be muddy or deep snow it may take four wheel drive. If anyone is unsure about bringing their car back they can park by the road and we will bring them back with a 4wd.

"Organizational duties" I hope I have everything covered, but if I have missed anything or you have other recommendations please let me know.

We are a friendly group and always welcome new faces. Just show up, and sigh up on the spreadsheet if you don't mind. Closer to time for the event I will post detailed directions, but there is also the map link. Let us know if you have any questions.

Any thoughts on a porta potty?
We rented one at the recent Gluttony Hang in MI.
Everybody thought it was a great idea. We all donated to the cause...figuratively speaking.

Some more than others....glad we could get a pump out mid-hang. It was well worth the $85. Watching this thread....Indiana isn't too far away for a long weekend.
