I'm suspecting the weather in Maine is similar to New Brunswick? If that's the case, you would want something a little more substantial for the shoulder seasons than a 40. I know you say you run hot but that area doesn't always run hot. Many like a 10˚F cushion, even those who run hot. You might want to look at the 30˚F from UGQ.
In the meantime, many use a pad, and if you have a sleeping bag from other forms of camping, which shall not be named, I'd just use that if it's gotten you through the seasons. Just get your hammock and tarp and go hang your hang.
