Are we talking straps/buckles, or straps used for whoopies? I assume straps with buckles given the lengths you listed.
In that case, I'd say 10'. I use Warbonnet straps/buckles on all my hammocks but usually cut off about 2'. I never needed more and always have plenty extra. But I've been close on one occasion with a BIG tree.
I always go with 12' straps. I use a cinch buckle suspension. I do have a set of 15' straps just in case but so far haven't had to use them.

I am going to comment, in addition to responding to the poll.
A 12 foot length gives enough to wrap around most trees in our part of the country, while also allowing for the trees to be further apart. I'm not sure I am likely to find a tree that requires 15ft straps, or be able to reach high enough to get a 30 degree angle in a spacing situation that would require them. I would, however, like to find I always have too much length rather than not enough. 12 feet seems like more than enough.
What if we run into this at Mohican? 40ft straps anyone?

Here in Washington State a 15 foot strap covers most anything I could run into. It'll work for a tree that's about 4 feet across, which isn't uncommon around here.

I did notice that my pack is a LOT heavier than anyone else's.
