    Enlightened Equipment New Product Teaser

I saw this on EE's Instagram story board this morning. Filming a new product video. Could this be a mummy-style sewn footbox?

Hmm, intriguing possibility. I guess time will tell.

Looks like it to me as well! This was one of the main things I was concerned about while shopping for a quilt right now. Those quilts look awesome, but I think a mummy style would be better for those of us with larger, size 13+ feet. I do hope this is a new option going forward.

I don't really understand the footbox thing. I've been using standard Hammockgear quilts, sewn ends, and they all seem huge. In fact, with more space there's more room to "heat". Or is it an issue of height (toes pushing against quilt)?

I can't speak for quilts, but my worry is based on personal experience with down sleeping bags. My Kelty Ignite has a decent mummy footbox, but my size 13 feet do push against the top enough to compress down, so I have got cold feet before. So I am a bit worried going to a flat sewn footbox like the enigma.

I honestly think this is the only time in my life that I've been glad to have regular (size 9) feet LOL.

Haha I always felt pretty regular with a 9.5-10ish foot. I deserve that since I'm always in between sizes on clothing!

On a related note, my top quilts are a little longer than me, so the extra length at the end naturally "curls" upwards due to the hammock, so that gives plenty of extra space beyond my toes. That works out great since my feet are the first and only thing to get cold.

I've slept in a Burrow and an Enigma quilt and there is no difference in comfort of the footbox (I'm a size 12). I would like to know if anyone else had a different experience. The manufacturers are doing this to keep up and be different, which is fine, that's business. I think it's a great feature and the design just looks better. It's just not a feature that actually makes a difference in keeping warm when choosing a quilt. My guess is that many buyers are choosing other manufacturers based on the footbox so EE is going to make that change and keep up.
