    Cinch Buckle Glitch

This is somewhat off topic and I apologize in advance. But this forum is one of the top Google hits when I search for "cinch buckle," so perhaps someone can help.

I am a newbie, and before I even knew Dutchware existed, I bought a Thermarest Slacker suspension system. I can't for the life of me make it work. The buckle doesn't hold the strap: each time I get into the hammock, my weight pulls the strap until I hit the ground.

In the attached photo, the strap left of the buckle goes around the tree, and the strap to the right attaches to the hammock.

Am I being an idiot, or did the manufacturer insert the strap into the buckle incorrectly (backwards)?

Looks like the strap is wrapped into the cinch incorrectly.....look at this and see the correct way.

Move thread up to suspension for more views since it is not about Dutchware

Yes, I agree it is threaded backwards. Your buckle should be threaded this way. Capture.PNG

After forgetting to "set" my poly spider strap in the cinch buckle once I started tying a precautionary half hitch just in case.Never happened again btw. When all else fails the old reliable marlin spike hitch will save your bacon.(but I prefer a becket hitch tied onto my Evo loop Continous Loop as that big honkin' knot is so easy to catch with the strap)

See the Shug vid on J Bends and Beckets where he says,"you have tied it incorrectly and it will fail".

I agree with the suggestions. Jeff-oh's pic shows it well. It shouldn't slide once you re- route the strap correctly but if it does you can reinforce it with a half- hitch tied with the loose end on the hammock side of the buckle (right side in the photo).
