    Ring suspension

I have this ring suspension for my HH survivorman in my basement set up. Do you all think this would work with the tree slings? I know this is a pretty heavy setup for backpacking but I think it would work for a quick setup when I'm car camping.

I slept in this for about 8 days while I was trying to stay away from some of my family members who had fevers. I'm wondering if this ring suspension will cause premature breakdown of the hammock ropes.

    Thoughts?

Short answer is yes. Long answer is it depends on how long you leave the ropes between the rings in the same spot.

I think the crux here is “premature” breakdown. Everything wears out. I used the ring method for about a year and the only heartache was leaving a full set of carabiner and 2 rings (2 biners and 4 rings total) on webbing around two trees at Pirate’s Cove. I switched to other suspension because my Hennessy was the only hammock that used line. But when I was using rings, it worked fine. As with all important things, just keep an eye on it. If the wear becomes unacceptable, replacement is cheap and simple.

No comment on the longevity of the cordage, but those rings look like they are pressed together, not welded. Could be wrong on that. That would be a bigger concern for me than the harm to the cordage..
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I have my rings attached to my tree huggers, I like to pull/adjust the rope downwards towards my hammock...just a personal thing.

On my older model Hennessy, the outer protective sheave on the rope failed when pulled & squashed between the rings sending me slowly to the ground...inner strands were still ok.( They may have upgraded the ropes by now). So I replace that with some uber tough 5mm tech cord(climbing) roughly 10 years ago. A bit over the top strengthwise, faded by UV, but no failure or outer sheave wear since then. The Hennessy is still used regularly when camping with my family.

Rings are my favourite infinitely adjustable hammock suspension...

I just purchased my first Hennessy Hammock and not being used to their suspension system, have looked at quite a few youtube videos. That question on rope wear/damage was asked quite often. All replies were positive and not one said they experienced any damage.

I was surprised to find the hammock was made in China and am hopping the quality is up to par.

I’d ditch the rings. Just tie off to the carabiner.

    Hi
I used the rings on my Hennessy with the standard rope suspension that it comes with,No problem, easy to adjust on the rings, as long I did a half hitch as well to tie off,all good and no slipping and no sign of wear on suspension either

I use two descender rings instead of the Hh lashing. Very adjustable, very light weight. The loop to the tree straps is on the right. I just thread the HH line thru the trap end loop.IMG_6785.JPG
