    UQ Protector Fit

Doing some training hangs in my yard and am trying to get my UQ protector dialed in, a 2QZQ.

    I'm using a 11' hammock and and 3/4 underquilt

How do you attach your UQ protector?

Are the ends of the UQP supposed to go to the end of the UQ or the hammock whipping?

Any tips on attaching it to whipping? I just wrapped it but there might be a better way.

I put a set of Dutch quilt hooks on my uqp with a cord lock so that i could adjust it however i need to, seems to work great imo.

I hang it like an underquilt. I want it to cover my underquilt but not the hammock. I don't see any advantage of setting it up off center.

Covers underquilt only. Hang it really loose (looking like it will not be tight enough) under the quilt; it will tighten up when you lay in the hammock. If it is too tight to the bottom of the UQ, it could compress the quilt insulation from underneath.

I connect the UQP shockcord to the S-biner's I use for the UQ. I have 1 UQP designed for a 10' hammy but use it for all my hammocks. Bridge, 10 and 11' gathered ends.

I just S-Biner it to the cord that comes off the hammock's gathered ends. It's job is to block the wind so as long as the sides cover the underquilt, I'm happy. I may tighten it up a bit if there are size toggles on bungee, but I am trying to manage the sides, but I am not trying to snug it up under the quilt and hammock. It's job is to create a dead air SPACE. So I want things to breath easy but not outside air to flow.

Thanks guys, I'll make those adjustments!

Perfect timing on this thread! My 2QZQ will be here tomorrow and I was gonna ask the exact same question, but ZQ said in her email to me that she included some instructions. I'll take a look and see how she explains how to hang it and then refer back to this for further help if needed. Thanks in advance!

My UQP arrived today and it did include an instruction sheet. But to hang it was pretty easy since I have the JRB suspension for my winter nest. I clipped the corner loops into the WN suspension carabineers and then sinched the ends to where I wanted them and just tied a knot in the end shock cord to keep it there. All that was left was to lay in the hammock and sinch the sides up. I got mine in embossed dark olive A90 and man does it look amazing! The craftsmanship is next level, and the embossing makes it really pop. Cant wait to see what it looks like on my new WBBBXLC Thursday when it comes! I really need to shred my credit card.
