Question about Dutchware Spreader Bars for Bridge Hammock

I purchased four 18" spreader bars from Dutchwaregear.com. The invoice says:
2 18" poles w/ tips male
2 18" poles w/ tip female

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to connect the poles. It appears the male poles have inserts, and the female pole is the same diameter as the insert. You can see the bars in the attached pictures. The first picture shows the bars touching and they're exactly the same size.

What am I missing?

Looks like one or the other pole is the wrong diameter, either a size up or down maybe.

Your best bet is to contact Dutch directly and explain the issue to him. He'll fix it.

Yeah, my plan was to reach out to Dutch tomorrow. I'm finishing up the hammock now and was hoping I could hang it today to test it out. Thought I might be overlooking something silly.

Oh well, guess I can wait a few more days. Luckily I'm only 80 miles from Dutch so I can get new poles by Tuesday.
