    Cheap bug net

Anyone offer an inexpensive bug net without having to sew one from Walmart curtains. Looks pretty easy but I am not that industrious. Seems like $60 might be the going rate for a made one but looking for a cheaper alternative. I assume if you just drape netting over the ridgeline, they will sneak in from the bottom???

Ripstop By The Roll sells kits for as little as $25.

And yes, draping the netting doesn't work.

$60 is about the going rate for a ready-made bugnet. You can make one for cheaper, but you exchange price for time to make it.

The simplest ones are bottom-entry nets. The net drapes over the ridgeline and the suspension exits through small holes in each corner. It's simple but effective.

I've had good luck with draping. Started out with a DIY Fronkey style bugnet out of tulle and shock cord. Got tired of trying to work my way out past the shock cord in the wee hours. It lasted 2 years until I managed to rip it. Now into the third year on a DIY noseeum bugnet with no shockcord and no problems. The bugnets are treated with permethrin at the beginning of each season so that may be the reason I don't have any problems.

So did you basically sew it like you would a Fronkey net minus the shock cord at the bottom? Then you just sort of raise it up and get in your hammock?

If you dont want to DIY then buy one. I have made one from curtains and it works a treat. Cheap too. Just finished a kit from RSBTR and I think that is the way to go. Not much more expensive than wally world curtains and its really easy / looks great. Great place to start.

Yes sir. That's it. The second out of noseeum didn't even have a channel for the shockcord, just a rolled hem on the bottom. Found a few pics that show the net.
