Best Hammock Pillow : Thermarest Compressible Pillow

On a recent trip I got to test a friends hammock pillow... okay, well it could be used for ground dwellers, but c'mon! Anyways, I was so impressed that the day I got home I ordered one. I've used a few nights now and feel that I can give an initial impression review. Needless to say, but I love the thing and it's a complete luxury item, but I'll be taking this on most of my adventures from here on out!

Too big for the hammock for me, but a good car-camping tent pillow. Fluffs up easily and with enough support, not to mention the soft exterior. Just don't need so much support or size in the hammock. Would be da bomb under my knees, but again, only for car camping - or perhaps for filling the room in a large pack.

I totally agree. I have one, and it takes up more space in my pack than I'd like. It's great otherwise.

Yup the only downside is the size, but I've got my pack light enough and small enough that this is worth it for me. Also the size medium is really not too bad.... I just like the large personally.
HYOH but if you need a good supportive pillow this js it. I don't like the inflatable pillows I've seen.

It's what I've been using w/ shock cord and a mini-biner to hook it to one end of the hammock. I am finding it may be too thick and may look at one of my thinner pillows. YMMV, but yes, a great pilllow, especially for ground/tent sleeping. A little big, but worth it if the size/firmness suit you.

It is one of the best pillows I have tried, but it is pretty big as mentioned above. My large pillow weighs about 9 ounces, and I use it often.

I also have a small DIY pillow that is only 3 ounces, so the Thermarest will be left at home for many trips. However, I will take the Thermarest when visiting, renting a condo, etc. in case they have bad pillows.

    I have 2 of those pillows ( medium )

I've noticed, depending on which pattern you get, the firmness is different.
I have a solid blue and its medium firmness
I have a patterned light/dark blue and it more firm
In the store I noticed the red pattern was softer .

    Just an observation I found

    Otherwise I love these pillows

    Cheers

I have the small size and that's exactly what I did.. Maybe not quite half, but it is perfect now.
