    Upcoming trips in CO?

Anybody thinking of any frozen butt hangs in CO? Maybe up poudre canyon? just an overnight hang to meet some new people and enjoy the weekend? I've been wanting to met some fellow hammock enthusiasts for a while and I would love to find some hang friends!

    Hello bubbamancub,
I believe the last official Colorado Winter Hang was in 2014.
    https://youtu.be/Pt0LTbUd5lc

We used to have 3-4 official, open to all, group hangs every year but found it was really hard to pick a future weekend and have good weather in the winter.

Colorado in winter is unmatched but you must hit it between storms.

In 2013 on our winter hang https://www.flickr.com/photos/outand...57632682827932
we had 50 mile per hour winds that caused all the trees to sway around so badly they would lift our hammocks about 6" and drop. No one got any sleep.

So the whole pick a weekend sometime in the future has just not worked and kind of take the wind out of my sails for leading/planning another one.
But if you or anyone else in Colorado would like to organize one ((( do it! ))) maybe new blood is what we need around here. :-) You would not be stepping on any toes.

Those are some good reasons for sure. It could be 40 or -4 sunny or misrible. I would like to do a hang sometime though I grew up in the springs and don't live terribly far be worth a trip to meet some fellow hammocks.

White Ranch was really working for a new member Colorado overnite meet and greet but they changed the rules and you have to drive to a place and get a permit. No on site permits.
The campsite was being taken over by (420) transients trying to live up there. Now the place is heavly patrolled and safe again but a real hassle to book.

My idea is that we get as many people as possible over to the Ansel Watrous camp ground. It's a great place for overnighters, right up the Poudre Canyon. I've had quite a few nice trips there. It's right up to the river so water is no big deal and there are established fire rings and picnic tables. I'll analyze the site a bit to see how many hammocks could fit as well and let everyone know how many spots are available. I'm thinking November 4th if anyone can make it that soon. If not, it's not a problem for me to move it back. Let me know if there is any interest and I'll make a few calls!
    Thanks everyone!

P.S- if anyone wants some pics of ansel watrous, i've posted some on my flikr page.

awesome, sorry you'll miss this one. I don't do things on Sunday other than being at church and being with my family, so all trips you will see me on will be weekend or school break trips. Sounds super fun though, I'll have to check that spot out sometime!
