    Intigrated Costco underquilt project

Here is my rendition of a hammock with integrated insulation. Of course this is nothing new but every time people share new projects I get inspired. So the people that inspired this build where:

    BoneFire Gear (Brother Bones)
    http://www.bonefiregear.com/

    Sheltowee
    http://sheltowee-hammock-company.mys...tions/hammocks

    Grapenut
    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...-Integrated-UQ

The hammock is made from PolyD 1.2, it is a double layer with dynaglide woopies and a zingit ridgeline.

This last shot is the storage stuff sack.

It fits snugly in a bishop bag for camping.

What's the total weight? Did you just sew the throw onto the outer layer?

No, the size was modified and its sewn on an angle for head left ect. For my first try it worked out good. I have another idea I am going to try soon.

Very interesting. I'm sure you will enjoy the simplicity of this setup. I am curious about how you attached it as well.

2.2lbs but that includes the large storage bag, a bishop bag, tree straps and carabiners.

Well lets be clear, I'm no pro like you. I really want to buy one of your rigs but just cant afford it now. Here was my process.

    1. Cut a piece of fabric 22' long.
    2. Sew rolled hem down both long sides.
    3. Find the middle and sew a 2 1/2" channel.
    4. Rip seams on Costco quilt and make 44x70 underquilt.
    5. Find the middle of the hammock and pin the quilt to the bottom layer.
    6. Sew the two layers together leaving room for a sleeping pad opening.
    7. Finish the other end of the hammock by sewing a rolled gem and a 2 1/2" channel.

There is some down compression. Im going to try it out in a few weeks at a group hang.

I have an idea that i have not seen done before that will give me the ability to vent the quilt at both ends. Thats my next project.

Great minds think alike lol. Glad you did this. I have really liked the venting it provides. In my last few I did add a collar on each end to help prevent cold from getting in.
