When the bug season is over, it's time for the ritual of moving my 2qZq ridgline organizer to my new winter/shoulder season hammock from SLD. After being cooped up inside that net all summer, I'm ready to be topless. Hey, that guy in the other hammock setup looks familiar....

Two days before Thanksgiving here in Southside Virginia and the yellow jackets are still swarming around my house like its mid August. Never seen them out this late but they are too irritating to go topless right now. Haven't been out in the last month on a trip so don't know what they are like out on the trails around here but I am past ready for them to get a little frozen!

My bug net goes bye bye when cold
I use a small piece of shock cord with mitten hooks on each side
Which i use to male sure my quilt stays in place in high winds
I have a dual knotty mod so its more of a redundancy thing
It works great, as i try not to deploy my superfly unless weather is not great

I train for the cold every day at work as I work in refrigerated store rooms and freezer spaces at a grocery store.
Odds are good that you have encountered my local counterpart then, I'm a supervisor for RGIS. Granted, I've never met any one from our company that works in your territory, but I too have spent a good amount of time in grocery freezers. Some stores are nice enough even to turn it off and leave the door open) when we go in (though we have to be quick before it starts "raining")

The difference was about 5 degrees warmer than the thermometer reading just outside the hammock and 10 degrees warmer than the reading from the thermometer on the picnic table. I did this at a couple of hangs and got similar readings. Not a great addition but I will take it. This was by no means a scientific study but I felt gave me a good idea of what I could expect.
Been meaning to do this but i wanted to find or rig a way to display the readings all in one location, this way i could compare the difference between me in the hammock (warm and toasty) and NOT in the hammock (ambiant)

Are you a Top Gun at RGIS ? I don't interact with them when they are doing inventory. We do not turn off our freezers or refrigerated spaces for anyone unless they are being worked on but then I have not seen them inventory anything other than the grocery items ( can goods, paper towels ect ) at out location.

This post and thread appears very timely for me as I'm deliberating if and what kind of net to make for my bridge; none, removable (weighty), or sewn attached (permanent). Everyone's input has been been extremely helpful and has made my decision clear as mud!

Also, obligatory mouse poop story reaction.

Always use a net, including while hanging indoors. As an earlier poster said ‘it’s cozy’. I actually dislike not using a net.

I also had a mouse land on my net on the AT. Splat! The sucker landed hard on the net right above my right eye. Horrible!

I have a top cover on order to up the cozy feeling.

I leave the net on my XLC year round. It cuts wind, and in winter will actually keep most snowflakes from getting in

I have seen where it does collect frost from breathing, but it's minimal, and it's also collected atmospheric frost which would have been on me otherwise.
