Marlin spike hitch - which way?

    Holy thread resurrection Batman!!

Like to hear more discussion on this. I’ve been using a MSH “upside down” now experimenting with it which lead me to this thread.

Biggest benefit I’ve noticed is that it’s basically impossible for the loop to slip off the knot.

Would also like to hear folks opinions on the last question In the thread about the benefits or lack thereof, in toggle diameter.

Though it’s not in line with ultralite standards, instead of a toggle, you can use a lightweight carabiner (like Warbonnet sells). Then there is no worry about anything slipping off. Some could claim the lifting that “what if it slips” weight off their mind is a greater savings that the small additional weight of that WB biner.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

Agreed. For sub 2 oz. a set of biners is hard to beat.

My current setup is spider daisy huggers and some black diamond biners to whoopies. My set is 1.68oz. That’s a big gulp of water haha. Within reason I don’t see suspension as a place to really cut loads of weight. Short of using dyneema to a becket. But for 4-5 oz you can rock almost anything you feel good about really.

I am always playing with different methods as well and one of the things I tried was flipping a MSH over and looping on as normal.

The regular way I’m not so much concerned with the whoopie coming off the toggle as slipping off the knot onto it. (And frankly I’m not THAT concerned about that really lol. )

With it inverted if the loop can only rest on the knot and it doesn’t bite down into it making sling adjustments more difficult. Having read this thread it’s apparently a stronger connection as well.

Seems like a win win. BTW I’m perfect for testing suspension methods cause I’m about the size of a small horse these days.
