Outdoor Vitals 0' Long Mummy Bag/Top Quilt

    Hammock World,

We just pulled the trigger on 0' Outdoor Vitals Mummy Bag $180 to use as top quilts. It seems like this may work out well as a top quilt. I will give a full review when the temps get close to its rating.

    Specs:

    - Grid Design: The Summit 0°F was designed to lock the down into individual sections while not compressing the down with its "none sew through design!"
    - Internal Filling: 800 fill power (90% Down / 10% feather) duck down! Giving you top of the line loft for the weight and compactability. Regular Model contains 700 grams/1.54lbs of down. Long Model contains 750 grams/1.65lbs of down.
    - External Shell: 20D Rip-stop Polyester. Repels moisture and retains lightweight design!
    - Internal Lining: 320T Rip-stop.
    - Size: Regular Model - 75 x 30 inches. Fits 6' and under. Long Model - 81 x 32 inches (extra 2 inches of width). Fits 6'6" and under.
    - Compressed Size: 11 x 8 x 8 inches. Easily fits into any backpack!
    - Weight: The Regular Model only weighs 2 lbs 12 oz!! Add 4 oz for the compression bag so the package weighs in at 3lbs! The Long Model only weighs 2 lbs 15 oz!! Add 4 oz for the compression bag and that's a total weight of 3 lbs 3 oz!
    - Temperature Rating: Rated to 0°F or -18°C.
    - Heavy Duty YKK Zippers
    - Treated with a DWR agent to help increase water resistance
    - Hanging Hooks: These are loops attached to the bottom of the bag for storage and airing out.
    - Compression Bag Included
    - Lifetime Warranty

Not bad for $180 I guess...I hope it keeps you warm. I'm curious how it compares to a 20 degree TQ that's half the weight.

I've been looking at these for a little bit now. Just haven't had the guts to buy in yet. What size did you get, and do they fit you?

I got the long size and yes it fits great as a top quilt. I am 6'1 and have room to spare. The hood actually creates a nice big neck baffle. I am broad and have not tried to use as a bag. I did notice that my bag is 1 inch shorter than my wife's. I measured with my body and with a tape. So not sure if QC is an issue. I am going to weight tonight to see if weight is on point for both of them. I swear my bag has less loft than hers but she said I am crazy. Not sure if it was warehouse longer.

The ultimate test will be the outdoors. We need a winter UQ though. Looking at the UGQs since they are 48inch W.

I hear running a down sleeping bag in a dryer with no heat for 5 minutes will help with the loft on a stored bag. I'm on the fence between the OV, the Hyke & Byke version, or the Aegismax. As far as UQs Ive got a 20° Zepplin from UGQ and couldn't be happier. Keep us updated on the Field Test
