2 days and 1 night - Knob Mountain, Jeremy's Run Loop

    .....PICTURES TO FOLLOW.....
I just finished a nice overnighter on Knob Mountain-Jeremy's Run Loop. I'd never been there before. After a 3.5 hour drive from eastern Va, I arrived at the SNP just after noon and made the trail head just before one..... I followed the route shown here: http://midatlantichikes.com/knobmt.htm
The temps were high 70's and the only bugs were not mosquitoes.....which was good. I doped up anyway just in case. Making the top of Knob mountain was a little grueling but the rest of the way to Jeremy's Run was fine but some areas were toe jammers.....I crossed Jeremy's Run and found a spot to set up maybe 10 minutes beyond the crossing. It was an area that I'm sure used as a campsite.
I was gonna use my UCR's but because I haven't hung overnight with them before, I thought since I was hanging over rocks I'd rather use the whoopies. Tarp was set up in porch mode. I really didn't need the tarp but didn't know that it would be a dry morning. I was using the DIY parallelogram hammock and still had my bug net on...probably not needed but kept it on..... Had dinner and hopped in the hammy just at sunset. The temps started cooling around midnight but I never felt cold. But I do need to wash the UQ and TQ....it's really getting funky....
Woke up around 5:30 but stayed in the hammy until sunrise. Had coffee and oatmeal.....morning constitution and then started packing up. Got underway around 9:30 and had a nice hike back to the parking lot. Arrived there just after noon. In the description for the loop they mention 14 crossings of Jeremy's Run....they weren't kidding, I saw one guy looking for fishing holes this morning.....and two other people coming in close to the trail head. Didn't see a soul yesterday.
I'd do this loop again but for another overnighter, I'd just hike the Jeremy's Run back to last nights campsite.
I'll post some pictures in a few days.

It sounds like a great trip. I love that hike. I've done it a few times. It's usually a pretty lonely hike whenever I have done it.

Glad you had a good time,

I have been looking at that area because of the PATC cabins in the area. It sounds like a great hike. Def post pics!

Thanks for sharing. Does that map show a 2500 foot gain? That would be a killer hike in my state of conditioning.

TrailSlug....I'm not sure. It's hard to see on the pdf I have. Maybe someone else can answer. It was a bit of a slog at the beginning when I started up Knob Mountain. I had to take a few breaks. Same for climbing out of Jeremy's Run to the trailhead. But I'll tell you, coming down Knob Mountain was a little rough too. I sorta thought I'd make good time along there but it was kinda steep.
