It works. But when it gets really cold I think the encapsulated warmth in a GE will be more comfortable.

Update on my plastic beads that... Surprisingly snapped
Still happy with the Lego heads, bit I'd like something smaller to adjust more detailed.
The only thing I really dislike with making a curved lay is that the hammock easily crumples and shortens under the pad where is curved.
Hang loose are you using an inflatable pad? It is hard for me to imagine the hammock being able to crumple when stretched out with an inflatable pad.
I have gone to using figure eight knots tied in the bottom of the suspension strands instead of beads. The beads worked fine for experimentation, but now that I know it is a permanent mod I wanted something less bulky and out of the way (the knots are under the hammock body fabric connection. The S-curve is created by leaving a longer tail after the figure eight for making shorter strands. Therefore the figure eight tail lengths start short at my thighs; get progressively longer to the knees; and back to short at the bottom of my calves. Since I use figure eights they are able to be untied and retied if necessary. I have found using forceps makes handling and tying the knots easier.
I am also having trouble picturing the collapse happening with an inflatable pad?
Has any one tried a strap run under the hammock and pad at knee level, running to a few of the suspension cords, lifting the hammock a bit at the knees? Just a random thought that popped up. But if it worked, it would work only with a pad I guess, it would compress an IQ with no pad.
My version...

Will use a pad 9/10 times

Using both, a z-lite style pad where it's more prominent and an uberlite where it's easier to stretch the hammock back out.
Not a fan of the balloon feeling on an inflatable though. Kills the right curvature I chose a hammock for.
What's 'forceps' you're mentioning?
Thx!
