VIDEO: SHT from Lutsen to Cramer Road

I took a quick 2 day 25.5 mile hike from Lutsen Recreation Area to Cramer Road. Shared my campsite the first night with 4 guys doing their first hang. They managed with a blue tarps over the top. I have finalized my decision that I will be buying an under quilt and top quilt. I wasn't comfortable on the sleeping pad in the sleeping bag. It got down to 45 degrees, but I was plenty warm. I am thinking I will get the Black Bird LXT from Warbonnet and the corresponding full length 20 degree under quilt. I will also look forward to losing a couple pounds from the change.

Yes, works now. Great video and pretty colors at least what was left. Thanks for sharing and good job on the 15 miles on the last day.

I watched your video after seeing your reply to my trip report. I was happy to see you mention the color of the water from springdale creek! I was concerned it was my dromedary bag that dyed it. Yellow-ist water I've ever seen on the trail. Nice video.

Why is this water this color? I would be afraid to drink it being that color.

Sediment maybe? Tasted as good as any other creek and better than any beaver pond

While I cooked with the creek water, I don't think I ever drank it. I still had other water and refilled and Temperance River.

I've seen water that color when the watershed is wooded, probably from the tannins in leaf litter. Sometimes low levels of iron does the same thing. Maybe a bit of both in that part of the country.

    Thanks for the report!
