I've gone through three or four variations on my tarp set up trying out different stakes. My all time, hands down favorite has wound up being Dutch's Titanium Nails coupled with Hook Worms. That is a sweet set-up! As for the ridgeline, I prefer it over my tarp in a figure 8 configuration, allowing me to easily slide/reposition my tarp anywhere along the ridgeline and prevents water from following the ridgline down under my tarp. I use about 30 feet of Lash-it with a teensey titanium Dutch Hook on one end (which clips to a continuous loop that is larksheaded to my tarp)...and a Dutch Wasp larksheaded with a continuous loop to the tarp on the other end.
We should soon have a longer version option of our y-stake, it's a couple inches longer than the normal one and makes a big difference if you're having the normal size pull out in poor loose soil
