Thanks for everyone's input I really appreciate it. I am going to either go with groundhogs or ti Shepard hooks. I know both will cost a bit more, but I'd rather buy one set of nice stakes instead of getting replacements later.

Are you sure you're using the 7000 series aircraft grade aluminum ones? The ones I use from warbonnet have not bent after a year of moderate use.

I just use "King of Kings Tent Stakes 8.5 inches Aluminum 10-Piece" from amazon, cheap, light weight, and 10 of them.

There's just no comparison between a thin titanium shepherd hooks and "Y" or "V" shaped 7000 series aluminum stakes. Here's a 25 min long comparison of a few different styles of tent pegs. Yeah I know, he didn't test in different soils and different angles, blah, blah, blah. If you search for tent peg/stake comparisons, you'll find a lot of videos about MSR Groundhogs being a good choice.

Yep, 7000 series aluminum and 8.5 inches. Good choice. I found in that in different terrains length is important.

Nope! I was definitely not using the 7000 Al ones.

The king of kings on Amazon says it's discontinued....

Wow, groundhogs are expensive. On the Christmas list the go.

That video...is very through. I started rocking the baby to sleep and watching it. He went out long before the vid ended. Is there a TLR for it? What's the conclusion?

I still love my Ti hooks 😀
