help needed with a Kelty Noah tarp

Here's my camping setup. I have long cords on the ends of my Kelty Noah tarp and they take up a lot of room and are always tangled in knots. I'm pretty basic with knots and such. Can someone recommend an EASY suspension system to tie my tarsuwannee rig.jpgp to 2 trees? The sides I just stake directly to the ground. As you can see, my tarp sags a lot as well. My hammock is a Hennessy Jungle Safari Zip - by far the most comfortable of my 8 hammocks, but it needs to be strapped up high, so I need my tarp not to sag so much.

First off that's a heavy tarp and it's going to be hard to tie it without sag. One trick I use to prevent tangling of my continuous ridge line is the figure 8 wrap where I use my thumb and pinky and wrap my line in a figure 8 around these two fingers.

    See this for more info.

It doesn't have a ridge line (that may be part of the problem??). The long lines I refer to are at the end and they wrap around the tree, they're at least 6 feet long. You can kind of see them in the picture

I can't believe I just heard from Shug....I'll treasure this email forever!!!! I should have just looked at his videos first anyway. I just came in from a trip and posted a query without even looking up all the stuff already out there. Its just got to be simple!

+1 on this but again that tarp is so heavy it's going to be hard to prevent that sag you may just have to hang it higher.

When I hang my Noah A frame style instead of diamond, I get less sag.

I think this tarp is intended to be set up in the diamond style (that's why they sell the 2-pole set) since that's what shown in about every advertising photo. It does have many edge and body loops to assist with a variety of hanging configurations.

I just hung under mine for the first time this weekend. I don't think I got quite the sag I see in your photo but this might be for 2 reasons. First, I tied off to one tree then set up sort of a "trucker's hitch" arrangement around the 2nd using the metal loop on the end. This got me some mechanical advantage so I got the ridgeline very taut. Second, I put some very long cords on the "corners" and pulled them out so the tarp overall was pretty flat. I think this is sort of the shape kelty had in mind and it seems to minimize the ridgeline arch. A steep angle seems to exaggerate the sag.

help needed with a Kelty Noah tarp

Been using a Noah's 12 for a long time. In an "A frame" is a bit tough to get a taut pitch. In the diamond you get sag in part because it's so darn long.

One solution I found is to crank a CRL really tight. As I am not weight sensitive with gear I wrap straps around the trees to protect them. Attached to the straps I use polyester cord from the marine section at Wally's. With a trucker's hitch I can crank this setup very tight and almost eliminate sag. Connect the tarp to the line with biners and Prusik knots.

In cases where there is a branch up above I've also thrown a line over it and connected it to the center loop. That add the opportunity to pull up the middle a bit.
