I have a Kelty Noah 9 and 12. I usually hang the 9 as a diamond and the 12 as a square. Using a ridge line helps.

Not the best photos, but these give an idea.

Sample continuous ridge line photo with prusik knot reduces sag.

Without ridge line and just a normal knot there is more sag.

Neither direction has much sag with the ridge line, but the techniques are different.

When hanging as a diamond, I make sure to get the two ends tight. This is easily accomplished by using a prusik knot on either or both ends, or a piece of hardware. I then stake out the two sides loosely and then tighten them up to get the correct tension.

When hanging as a square I hang the two midpoints slightly loose. Next I stake out the four corners at the diagonals. Lastly I tighten up the ridge midpoints slightly and the corners to get everything nice and flat. If you start by tightening the ridge midpoints too much, the sides never look good.

If you want to get rid of the sag you can hang a ridgeline under the tarp. Pull the line guitar string tight. Knots can help with this and so can Dutch. Just be careful too tight and you will mark the trees. You can use small sticks to prevent this. Lifting the sides will also help. For the tarp lines, the figure 8 wrap is worth learning and also you can shorten your tarp lines to next to nothing if using a ridgeline or at the very least your tarp lines don't need to be longer than the hammock suspension.

I use what I call a "Modified Hansen" CRL to hang mine. I get very little to no sag because I can really tighten that puppy up.

I use Lash-it and have a soft shackle on one end and a Dutch Fleaz on the other, and use the V setup like Derek Hansen describes in THIS VIDEO.

I also run the CRL through the tarp's center loop to help support the middle of the tarp because it is so long.

If you want more details let me know, I could throw a quick video together.

My hammock is a Hennessy Jungle Safari Zip - by far the most comfortable of my 8 hammocks, but it needs to be strapped up high, so I need my tarp not to sag so much.
I use nite ezes figure 9s which allow you to get a real tight pich on your tarp tie outs or CRL.

Yes, the seam runs along this direction, so you get a cleaner setup with less sag than you would with the A-frame.

I was going to mention that as well. Anything that gives you a mechanical advantage, even knots without hardware, is key.

Around 3:45 in this video is an example, but I prefer hardware.

I have the exact setup as one of my alternative hammocks. I also use a homemade CRL made from zing it...I put a loop in one end so that I can make a sort of truckers hitch and cinch it tightly. If it's not windy or bad weather I prefer to have it below the tarp so I can clothesline. But if the weather is bad I'll put it above so I can run it through the mid span ridge loop and help keep it from sagging. I love that tarp...it was like $29 and I would much rather have a mishap with it like a flying cinder or limb or whatever than my superfly!

I used that tarp and found a smaller one as it was a beast.

I tend to hang my Noah's 12 in A-Frame for privacy (at Scouting campouts). I find it helpful to hang the full ridgeline first and hang it TIGHT. Then hook on my Noah12. to simulate Hex shape, I tuck the doors back on the top of the tarp and stake out the 2nd pull tabs to the ground.

S-biners on each end of the tarp. One long 30ft Ridgeline and 4 Prussic loops permanently mounted. I use the slippery half hitch around the trees on the outermost 2 Prussics. The inner 2 Prussics are for the tarp. I usually just slide the loops where I want them, then move one a little farther and PULL to hook the S-biner in. When tearing down, the ridgeline is packed separately on top of the tarp so it can go up first next time without unpacking the tarp to get it out.
