I do not own any other quilts other than EE. So maybe my opinion doesn't matter. But I'll try to answer why I think EE is a top choice just based off of my research. I'll give you the pros and cons of EE and you can research the rest.
Pro's
- Uses ethical and one of the best treated downs (IDFL certified DownTek). It's one of the first treated downs and has been around for a while.
- Fill weight is on par if not better than the other vendors
- Offers 900 and 950 fill (which I think currently is waste of money for the ounces saved ... google it)
- Uses Phantom fabric with an option for 20D on the outside for better durability
- Charges the same price for a sewn (Enigma) vs zippered (Revelation) footbox
- Lightweight
- Good color choices
- Excellent quality
- Made to pair with a sleeping pad for occasional ground dweller
- Offers a wide TQ option for $5 extra
- Secondary suspension and karo baffles on the UQ (Revolt)
- A lot of thorough online TQ reviews from ground dwellers
- One of the cheapest
- Professionally made education videos
- Come with a nylon breathable storage sack and a silnylon stuff sack (some vendors charge extra for this, which is crazy)
- OutdoorGearLab's Best Buy Award since 2013
Con's
- Wait time, probably because they are selling a ton of quilts and are really busy
- No overstuff option through the website (but they might do this if you contact them)
- UQ's do not have a draft collar (with the secondary suspension and dialed in they seal up just fine without it)
I'm sure I'm missing other options and features. HG, LL, UGQ, JRB, WB all make great quilts and I would buy any of them. Out of this list EE and LL are the only vendors that do not sell hammocks, suspensions, or shelters, only quilts. IMO EE has the best options for the money. NO I DON'T work for EE.
